Deserters (2024)

Deserters is a BAFTA-eligible WW1 short film that has won more than 20 international awards. Set in Flanders in 1916, it follows Tommy Tull, a young West Indies recruit who escapes a brutal mission in the Belgian forests and finds refuge with Finn, a mysterious Irish officer hiding in an isolated cabin. As the two men form an uneasy bond far from the frontlines, Tommy begins to suspect that Finn may be a deserter himself. But their fragile peace is shattered when a German soldier arrives in the dead of night, forcing the men into a violent struggle for survival that leaves none of them unchanged.
